Please join us in welcoming Jessica Shorney to the position of CEO effective Jan. 1, 2021. Shorney succeeds retiring CEO, Don Ackerman, who will leave the position Dec. 31, 2020 after 24 years of service.

Don Ackerman has served as President and CEO of TelComm Credit Union since coming to Springfield in 1997. His tenure has been marked by substantial growth for the credit union and its members in terms of products and services, culminating in TelComm’s milestone 80th anniversary in 2020.

Shorney, a 15-year TelComm employee, started as an accounting clerk in 2005 and rose to the position of Chief Financial Officer prior to accepting the position of incoming CEO. As a graduate of Missouri State University, Shorney earned a B.S. and a Masters in Accounting as well as a Certified Public Accountant designation.

Shorney says, “The People Helping People mission is my passion! I look forward to working with our members, volunteers and staff to move TelComm Credit Union forward, building on our financial strength and our ongoing commitment to serve our neighbors in the southwest Missouri area.”

TelComm Credit Union Board Chairman Greg Eck said, “After a lengthy interview process our Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee selected Jessica unanimously as we believe she will continue to carry on a strong service culture as TelComm enters into its next generation of products and services.”

Shorney and Ackerman are working together to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of member service in the weeks and months ahead.
